In-Progress | Hacienda Heights, CA
Client: Private
Collaborator: Elaine Kwong (Architect)
Born out of close collaboration with the architect, this garden weaves through and around the built structures that are embedded in the hilly terrain. The design preserves two existing mature coast live oaks with local stone and wooden steps navigate the hilly site, integrating seamlessly with the land. Modest platforms between the main and guest houses serve as intimate gathering spaces underneath the oak tree canopy. Inspired by California’s grassland and chaparral landscape, a mostly native, drought-tolerant planting palette blends the home into its natural context.
